Created by Tite Kubo, Bleach is an animation and manga series popular in Asia and abroad. While it began out as merely a manga series (serialized by the Weekly Shonen Jump comic publication from Shueisha), its popularity was so overwhelming that it was decided to develop a television series.
The story revolves around 15 year old Ichigo Kurosaki, a guy who may seem perfectly plain if not for the fact that he can see ghosts. This skill threatens to alter his destiny when, one night, a girl named Rukia Kuchiki teleports in his bedroom. Rukia is supposed to be invisible to a normal human, so she is shocked that Ichigo can perceive her. When an evil ghost, also referred to as a “Hollow,” makes itself known in the same area, Rukia is greatly hurt in trying to protect the teenager from it. In order to support Kurosaki guard himself from the spirit, she tries to transfer him some of her powers, but ends up transferring him all of it by accident. As a result, Rukia must stay with Kurosaki until her skills replenish, but there is still more malevolent Hollows to capture, and so Ichigo must take over.
Bleach has been in production for more than eight years, amassing over forty manga volumes and over two hundred tv episodes. And that is not all there is also many DVDs, video games, and CDs under its belt as well. There is no doubt in the minds of anyone that Bleach definitely has a certain appeal, and unless interest significantly lowers, it is likely to remain around for a long while.
